Yellow Jackets Defeat Men's Tennis in Road Match
INSTITUTE, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team fell in their road match 4-2 to West Virginia State on Sunday afternoon.
WVSU began the meet with victories at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles to take the meet point. Senior Matt Bolen and sophomore Viktor Boban were in the midst of a 5-5 tie at No. 2 when the match was called due to the point having already been won.
In singles play, junior German Diaz eased his way to a 6-2 first set win before battling back with a 7-6, 10-8 tiebreak to earn a point at No. 2. At No. 4, Bolen won his first set 6-4 before dropping the next 2-6 and using that as motivation to sweep 6-0. The Yellow Jackets fended off both results, earning wins at Nos. 1, 3, and 5 to take enough matches for the 4-2 final.
With the loss, Frostburg drops to 4-9 on the year, while WV State improves to 6-7. The Bobcats will remain on the road to face West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 15 at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
