Tyson Highlights Women's Wrestling Win with Senior Day Pin
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Wrestling team eased past Marymount at home on Wednesday with a 42-6 victory.
Prior to the meet, FSU honored its lone senior in Shani Tyson as she is concluding her Bobcat career.
Freshman Faith Day got things going for Frostburg in the first bout at 103 lbs, earning a second-round pinfall to start the meet. After a forfeit at 110, the Saints got on the board at 117 lbs, with Madison Adcock taking a first-round pin to get within 10-5. That would be the final MU victory, however, as FSU took the final seven scoring matches, including another three forfeits.
Sophomore Jada Fowler picked up an 8-0 shutout decision at 124, then classmate Brianna Holcomb earned a 13-2 tech fall at 131 to move up 17-6. Tyson needed just 42 seconds to take a pin victory at 145, then in the final scoring bout of the meet, sophomore Jocelyn Cacek finished things off with a first-round fall to end the scoring at 42-6.
In the lone exhibition of the evening, freshman Elle Webster left it late but was able to pick up a late second-round pin to send the home crowd into a frenzy.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 9-1 on the year, while Marymount falls to 2-9. FSU returns to action quickly as they will partake in the Muhlenburg Novice Tournament on Sunday, December 8. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
