Women's Wrestling Takes Final Dual of Season Over McDaniel
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Wrestling team took their final dual of the season with a strong 40-5 victory over McDaniel in Bobcat Arena on Wednesday evening.
Freshman Faith Day was given the injury default to take the first match of the night at 103, giving Frostburg five points to start the evening. Freshman Elle Webster fought for another five points for FSU in 110, where she pinned her opponent in a quick 48 seconds. Sophomore Aurora Walters won by forfeit in the 117 lb class, prior to 124 becoming a double forfeit.
Sophomore Brianna Holcomb received a win in the 131 lb weight class with a 2:16 pinfall of her own, as freshman Trinity Butler was given the victory by forfeit in 138, all helping to see the score at 25-0. Freshman Amber Hunter-Snyder rallied in the 145 lb weight class, working her match for a pinfall in a tough 5:45, before junior Samira Stephens put up a solid effort in her 160 match, but fell just shy.
Sophomore Maria Hiles went to work in the 180 lb weight class, securing a quick pinfall of 21 seconds, before sophomore Jocelyn Cacek rounded out the night with a win by forfeit in 207 to allow the final score to read 40-5.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 10-1 on the season, while McDaniel falls to 1-3. The Bobcats next go on the road to Bristol, Tennessee to compete in the Tornado Open put on by King University, starting at 9 AM on Sunday, January 19.
