Women's Tennis Sees Sixth in MEC Preseason Poll
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference announced their 2025 Women's Tennis Preseason Poll on Tuesday afternoon, with Frostburg State Women's Tennis seeing sixth place.
Frostburg enters the spring season with a 12-10 overall record a year ago, along with a 3-2 mark in MEC competition. The Bobcats made it to their first-ever conference tournament in 2024, entering as the No. 3 seed, where they fell to No. 2, Fairmont State. So far in the 2024-25 season, FSU appeared in the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament and Cardinal Invitational, while also facing Shepherd for a 6-1 victory, all in the short fall season.
FSU received 16 total points in the poll, sliding into sixth right behind Davis & Elkins, who holds onto to 17 points, and in front of West Liberty, who was given six total points. Charleston (WV) sits at the top of the MEC, picking up 36 total points and six first-places votes, while Fairmont slid into second with 29 total points and one first-place vote.
The Bobcats start their spring season on Sunday, February 16 when they travel to face Edinboro, staying on the road until their MEC and home opener against Charleston on Wednesday, March 26 at 1 PM.
