Multiple 1-2-3 Finishes Leads Women's Swimming to Commanding Regular Season Finale Victory

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team ended their regular season at home in convincing fashion with a strong 201-43 victory over Salem on Friday afternoon. 
 
Frostburg started out strong with the 200-meter medley relay team of seniors Natasha Paciello and Kendall Hooper, along with junior Gabriela Betancourt and freshman Madison Hooper taking first place with a time of 2:07.69, while the squad of seniors Amaya Burke and Meaghan Keegan, and sophomores Jayme Meadows and Alexis Ramsey finishing right behind them in second with a 2:09.40 time. 
 
The Bobcats racked up top-two spots in multiple events, starting with freshman Taylor Emrich (9:41.98) and senior Amanda Soustek (10:09.88) seeing first and second in the 800-meter free.  Meadows went on to earn first and second in the 100 and 200-meter back with times of 1:09.24 and 2:30.91, while senior Lydia Nebiolo finished right behind her in each, taking second with times of 1:09.85 and 2:32.90.  Freshman Genevieve Rippeon won the 400-meter free (4:35.60) and the 200-meter IM (2:45.11), while sophomore Reagan Chase (5:16.54) placed second in the 400 free, and sophomore Morgan Greenlee (2:45.11) finished second in the 200 IM.   
 
Snatching the first 1-2-3 punch of the day for FSU was freshman Ashley Ellsworth (2:20.23), Chase (2:22.73), and junior Abigial McCauley (2:29.65) in the 200-meter free, while Paciello (1:16.43), Keegan (1:21.88), and M. Hooper (1:22.54) placed top-three in the 100-meter breast.  Continuing the 1-2-3 success was Rippeon (28.36), M. Hooper (28.62), and Burke (29.18) in the 50-meter free, followed by K. Hooper (1:10.14), Ramsey (1:12.05), and Keegan (1:14.59) in the 100-meter fly.  Taking second and third in the 100-meter free was Chase and Paciello, with the former swimming a 1:06.23 and the latter collecting a 1:08.24 swim. 
 
To end the day, Nebiolo, Meadows, Emrich, and Rippeon teamed up for a historic swim in the 800-meter free relay, knotting an 8:52.09 time for the top finish in the event. 
 
With the win, Frostburg concludes the regular season 6-2, while Salem falls to 1-4.  The Bobcats will next prepare for the GMAC/MEC Championships in Canton, Ohio, starting on Wednesday, February 12.  For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
