Bolen, Boban Take Doubles Match, Alcala Wins #1 Singles in MTEN Loss to D&E

ELKINS, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Davis & Elkins on the road Saturday afternoon.

D&E took the doubles point for the meet with victories at No. 1 and No. 3, although senior Matt Bolen and sophomore Viktor Boban were able to pick up a 6-4 win at No. 2 for the Bobcats.

Sophomore Cole Alcala faced a battle at No. 1 singles and came out on top of a back-and-forth 6-1, 1-6, 6-1 battle, although his would be the only point of the meet for FSU. The Senators enjoyed straight-set wins at Nos. 4 and 5, while Boban fell just shy in a 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 loss at No. 3 to give Davis & Elkins enough for the meet victory. Sophomore German Diaz was in the midst of another marathon match, which was called off with the Spaniard leading 6-7, 6-2, 2-1.

With the loss, Frostburg drops to 4-7 on the year, while D&E improves to 6-5. FSU returns home on Thursday, April 10 to face Fairmont State at 3 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
