Golden Eagles Sweep Men's Tennis at Home

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's tennis team opened up its home Spring season against Charleston on Thursday, dropping the match 4-0.

Junior Cole Alcala and German Diaz played the number one doubles match to a tiebreak, ultimately falling 7-6. It would be the closest FSU came to taking a match, as UC won 6-3 and 6-2 in the other doubles matches for the meet point.

Needing just three more points to secure the victory, UC took straight-set sweeps at Nos. 3 and 4 singles. Diaz took his first set at No. 2 with ease but couldn't finish off the match with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 loss to give the Golden Eagles the win. Alcala had also gone into a battle at No. 1, with each player taking a 6-4 set win, as UC held a narrow 4-3 lead in the deciding set before it was called.

With the loss, Frostburg falls to 2-6 on the year, while Charleston improves to 13-3. The Bobcats return to play when they travel to Millersville on Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. For more information visit frostburgsports.com
