Dell Announces Resignation as AD; Stevenson to Serve in Interim Role
FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State University Director of Athletics Troy Dell has announced his resignation and move to the same position at Gettysburg College (Pa.), his alma mater.
Dell has served as FSU's director of athletics since 2007. Under his leadership, the Bobcats have seen significant success and growth, including a transition from NCAA Division III to Division II, adding multiple men's and women's sports to the University's athletic offerings and numerous facility renovations and improvements.
"The decision to leave Frostburg was one of the hardest career decisions I've ever made," said Dell. "I'm leaving a campus and community that has supported my family and me throughout my time as director of athletics. The campus community and institutional leaders that I have worked for and alongside have allowed me shape and grow the Athletic Department in a manner I hope represents the deep pride that our students, alumni and the surrounding community feel for Frostburg State University."
Dell came to Frostburg State after working at Gettysburg College for over a decade, serving as assistant director of athletics for his last five years there.
"I am grateful for Troy's commitment and dedication to FSU over the past 18 years," said Darlene B. Smith, Ph.D., interim president of FSU. "While we are sad to see him leave Frostburg, we are excited for the opportunities he'll have with his alma mater. I know he'll do great things at Gettysburg."
Dell will continue to assist the University through a transition period, as his last day will be August 12.
Rubin Stevenson, senior associate athletic director, has been named FSU's interim director of athletics effective immediately. He will work with Dell and University leadership over the next few weeks to prepare for the upcoming academic year and athletic seasons.
