Women's Rugby Goes Undefeated in Guilford 7's Invite

GUILFORD, N.C. – The Frostburg State Women's Rugby team went 3-0 at the Guilford 7's Invite, defeating Guilford, Emory & Henry, and Newberry. 

With several changes to the schedule due to the weather, Frostburg traveled to North Carolina to play in a 7's invite. FSU's first game was against the hosts of Guilford, where the Bobcats won 40-0. Junior Camryn Wyatt and freshman Ellis Lysse had a pair of trys to lead Frostburg, as freshman Natalie Allen also picked up a try and went 4-for-5 on conversions. 

In the second game, FSU faced off against a familiar foe in Emory & Henry. The two teams played earlier in the year when FSU kicked it's season off defeating the Wasps 39-5 in a 15's match. Frostburg broke out to an early lead and built it up to a 27-0 advantage, until E&H put up 17 straight points to bring the final score to 27-17. Wyatt, Lysse, and Allen all scored a try in the match, along with sophomore Lajess Jordan picking up her first score of the day.

The third and final match was against Newberry. Jordan came out hot, accounting for the Bobcats first 17 points, before sophomore Birtukan Sherburne earned her first points of the day with a pair of trys, all helping FSU come out on top 52-0.

Lysse led the Bobcats with a combined six trys, while Allen totaled 35 points. The Bobcats will return to play on Homecoming Weekend when they host Walsh for a 1 PM kickoff on Sunday, October 20. For more information, please visit frostburgsports.com.
