Russ Sets PR in Hammer, Burks Leads Decathlon on Day One of MEC Championships

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field kicked off the first day of the MEC Outdoor Championships on Sunday.
 
Redshirt sophomore Aubrey Russ put the first points on the board for FSU by placing sixth in the hammer throw, setting a new personal record at 46.82m and moving himself into sixth all-time in program history. Also in the event, sophomore Tyler McGraw hit a PR at 43.35m for 10th place.
 
In addition to the scoring events, the first half of the Decathlon also took place, as senior Marquise Burks found himself in first overall having earned either first or second in all five events. He won the shot put (12.38m) and high jump (1.86m) while finishing runner-up in the 100m (11.72), long jump (6.11m), and 400m (52.72). Also taking part was freshman Morgon Corwine, who ended the day fifth overall and setting personal bests in the long jump (5.65m) and high jump (1.59m)
