12 Receive All-MEC Honors for Football
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Frostburg State Football team saw 12 players receive All-MEC Honors on Tuesday afternoon, as the All-Conference teams were announced by the league office and determined by a vote of the MEC Head Football Coaches.
Senior defensive linemen Yasir Holmes and Leonard Scott, senior linebacker Colby Street and junior linebacker Jaylen Boyd, and redshirt sophomore return specialist Jordan Marcucci were all named to the All-MEC First Team.
Holmes was second on the team in tackles with 68, tying for a team-high in solo tackles with 39. Holmes leads the team in TFL's (18.5-67), sacks (8-47), and quarterback hurries (6), going for second in the conference in tackles for a loss and sacks. Scott, right behind him in sacks (5.5-33) in the conference, totaled 39 tackles on the season, along with 10.5 tackles for a loss of 49 yards. Street leads Frostburg in total tackles with 72 for a top-10 finish in the MEC, while also being credited with 3.5 TFL's, a sack, two pass breakups, four quarterback hurries, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Boyd is third on the team in tackles with 61, racking up 4.5 TFL's, 1.5 sacks, an interception, and a team-high three forced fumbles. On the special team's side, Marcucci saw an outstanding season as a return specialist, scoring three touchdowns off kick returns, finishing with 26 returns for 829 yards.
Junior offensive lineman Doug Pruim and junior defensive back Wylan Harich earned a spot on the All-MEC Second Team, while junior wide receiver Amari N'namdi-Hall and redshirt sophomore wide receiver Trashaun Timmons received All-MEC Honorable Mention, alongside senior defensive lineman Delonta Butler, senior defensive back DJ Denson, and junior defensive back Marquise Allsup.
As one of FSU's key pieces to their offensive line, Pruim paved the way for over 1,500 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns for the Bobcats. Harich, with another strong season on defense, finished with 58 tackles on the year with two tackles for a loss, five pass breakups, and a team-high six blocked kicks. Timmons and N'namdi-Hall led the passing game for Frostburg, with the former seeing 35 receptions for a team-high 656 yards and five touchdowns, while the latter caught a season-high 42 passes for 554 yards and five touchdowns as well. Back on the defensive end, Butler was credited with 24 tackles, four TFL's, and one sack worth seven yards, while Denson saw 20 tackles, one interception, and two pass breakups, and Allsup earned 29 tackles, two TFL's, one sack, five pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one safety.
