Women's Swimming Secures Multiple Top-Three Finishes in Home Opener Win Over Raiders
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team captured the 116.50-88.50 win over Shippensburg on Friday night in the team's home opener.
Frostburg dominated the pool against Shippensburg with multiple top three finishes on the day. Freshman Genevieve Rippeon had another terrific outing, taking first in the 800-meter free (9:31.07) and 400-meter free (4:38.43). Fellow freshman Taylor Emrich won the 200-meter free with a swim of 2:15.65, while senior Kendall Hooper earned the victory in the 100-meter fly (1:08.57) and senior Natasha Paciello secured the win in the 100-meter breast (1:17.66). Sophomore Jayme Meadows also received a first place finish, swimming a 1:08.68 in the 100-meter back, while senior Amanda Soustek, Emrich, Rippeon, and Meadows teamed up to capture the 400-meter free relay win with a time of 4:11.27.
Senior Lydia Nebiolo (10:16.92) and Soustek (10:23.87) took second and third in the 800-meter free behind Rippeon, while freshmen Ashley Ellsworth (2:19.24) and Kay Buhrman (2:19.24) finished third and fourth behind Emrich in the 200-meter free. Junior Gabriella Betancourt and senior Meaghan Keegan also had second place honors on the day, with the former showing a 1:10.07 time in the 100-meter back and the latter going for a 1:21.06 time in the 100-meter breast.
Sophomore Gabriella Douglas and freshman Madison Hooper finished in the second and third holes in the 50-meter free with swims of 28.19 and 28.39. Sophomores Alexis Ramsey (1:10.47) and Morgan Greenlee (1:11.51) earned third and fourth in the 100-meter fly, while Nebiolo swam a 4:49.09 for a third place time in the 400-meter free.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 3-0 on the season, while Shippensburg falls to 1-3. The Bobcats get right back to work, welcoming in Davis & Elkins at 1 PM on Saturday, October 19 for a MET meet. For mor information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
