Funk Named MEC Softball Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior Samara Funk earned MEC Softball Player of the Week after her outstanding offensive performance over the team's three-day weekend, as the award was announced on Monday by the league office and is presented by The Health Plan.
Funk helped Frostburg to a 2-4 opening weekend, seeing wins of 11-1 and 11-8 over Converse on Saturday and Sunday. Funk totaled 10 hits across six games, including two home runs, along with six runs and four RBI. Funk saw a 3-for-4 appearance at the plate in the team's 2025 opener, while showing a perfect 3-for-3 from the diamond with two runs and one RBI in the team's first victory of the season.
