Pair Added To Bobcat Athletic Training Staff

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State athletic training staff has added a pair of assistants for the 2016-17 year in Aimee Petrides and Tyler Johnston.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State athletic training staff has added a pair of assistants for the 2016-17 year in Aimee Petrides and Tyler Johnston.
 
A May 2016 graduate of FSU's athletic training program, Petrides completed over 600 hours in athletic training clinical experience, and gained experience outside of FSU at Rehab 1st Physical Therapy, Hahn Orthopedics, and several area high schools.
 
While at FSU, Petrides provided emergency care, assessed injuries, developed and implemented treatment and rehabilitation plans, and worked with athletes from several teams including women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, men's basketball, volleyball, swimming, and cheerleading.
 
Since 2013, Petrides has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Maryland Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association. She also holds several professional certifications, including the NATA-BOC certification and the American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid/Lifeguarding certification.
 
A four-year standout on the Bobcats' Division III volleyball team, Petrides finished sixth all-time with 1,273 kills and 11th all-time with 137 service aces. Petrides was also a team captain and was the 2014 Most Valuable Player Award recipient.
 
Along with her on-court accomplishments, she was a four-time Academic All-CAC selection, a five-time Dean's List award recipient, a member of the President's Leadership Circle, and a four-year member of FSU's Student Athlete Advisory Committee. During her time with SAAC, Petrides she served as the Vice President of Community Service from March to December 2014, and recently as the committee's President from December 2014 until her graduation in May 2016.
 
Johnston most recently served as an athletic trainer for Vereen Rehabilitation Center in Moultrie, Georgia where he worked with Thomas County Central High School covering 15 sports and 19 teams.
 
Prior to his time with Vereen, Johnston served as an athletic training student for the University of Mount Union Athletic Training in Alliance, Ohio. During his three years with Mount Union, he worked with baseball, women's soccer, outdoor track and field, football and softball. He also assisted with North Canton Hoover High School where he worked with football, boys and girls soccer, cross country, volleyball and wrestling.
 
A 2014 graduate of Mount Union, Johnston was a four-year member and served as a captain during his senior year of the varsity wrestling team. In 2012-14, he was honored as a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American.
 
Johnston is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association.
