Football Sees 13 Players Receive All-MEC Honors
BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Football team had 13 players receive All-MEC awards, as announced on Tuesday by the league office.
Defensive back Darrell Scott was recognized as Defensive Freshman of the Year, standing with 14 tackles, one interception, and a team-high nine pass breakups, putting him eighth in the conference in passes defended. In Frostburg's win over Wheeling, Scott was credited with four solo tackles and four pass breakups.
Senior offensive lineman Brandon Dillard, junior defensive lineman Leonard Scott, junior linebacker Colby Street, and sophomore defensive back Wylan Harich were all named First Team All-MEC.
Dillard helped lead the Bobcats to the fourth-best rushing game in the MEC, making way for a total of 1,933 yards, while also allowing FSU to come in fifth in the conference in sacks against. Scott, seeing the field for the first time since 2021, led Frostburg in quarterback hurries with eight, while also being credited with 15 tackles and assisting on 18, as well as two pass breakups. Scott finished fifth in the MEC in tackles for loss and eighth in sacks. As a linebacker, Street played all over the field, earning 24 solo tackles and 22 assisted tackles, two pass breakups and four interceptions, going for fifth most interceptions in the conference. Harich, coming off a First Team All-MEC honor last season, went for a team-high 31 tackles, while assisting on 16 and being credited for one interception and four pass breakups.
Sophomore running back Sean Aaron, graduate offensive lineman Mike Hudren, graduate defensive lineman Jaylen Parks, and graduate linebacker Michael Morgan all were announced as Second Team All-MEC.
As FSU's leading rusher, Aaron tallied up a total of 678 yards on the ground on 160 attempts, to go along with a team-high 10 touchdowns. Aaron's 10 touchdowns sit at seventh most in the MEC, while his 67.8 yards per game sit at eighth. In his final season in a Bobcat uniform, Hudren helped lead Frostburg's running game once again, earning All-MEC honors for the first time in his career. On defense, Parks led FSU in sacks with six, going for fifth most in the conference. He also finished with 22 solo tackles, assisting on 11, to go with one pass break up and one fumble recovery, sitting at seventh in the MEC for tackles for loss. Another defensive weapon, Morgan went for 20 tackles and 15 assisted tackles on the season, as well as one interception, one quarterback hurry, and three pass breakups.
Junior defensive lineman Yasir Holmes, junior defensive back Vincent Nwachi, sophomore defensive back Anthony Smith, and senior return specialist Max Davis all received All-MEC Honorable Mention.
Holmes, receiving his second straight Honorable Mention distinction, led FSU in seven quarterback hurries, to go along with 23 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, and two pass breakups. Nwachi was credited with eight pass breakups for ninth in the MEC, finishing with 18 tackles, assisting on 13, one interception, and one quarterback hurry. Smith, another defensive back for the Bobcats, led the team in interceptions with five, second most in the conference, also going for four pass breakups, 18 solo tackles and nine assisted tackles. On special teams, Davis received a total of 16 punts, running for a total of 146 yards and a 9.13 average.
