BUCKHANNON, W. Va. -  The Frostburg State baseball team started its weekend road trip off with two wins at West Virginia Wesleyan by scores of 8-3 and 7-2.
 
Frostburg wasted no time getting on the board, as with two outs and a man on second, senior Doyle McNew hit a homerun to break things open in the top of the first. Wesleyan would respond in the bottom half, getting one run back off sophomore starter Jack Ray, however both starters would find a grove in the second, third and fourth innings. McNew would again knock in a run, this time with a single that scored senior Mikey Guy. He then scored himself, tagging up on a sacrifice fly from junior Jake Holler.

Ray would then have a three up, three down fifth to make the score 4-1 Frostburg. FSU would double its score in the sixth when freshman Manny Hall hit a grand slam for his second long ball as a Bobcat. Wesleyan would put together their best inning at the plate to get two runs back and head to the seventh trailing 8-3. Senior Ryan Adams would come in to finish off the game for Frostburg getting three quick outs to lock dwon the game one victory. 

Frostburg won the first game 8-3 racking up 14 hits and only giving up eight. Ray picked up his third win going five and a third and striking out seven. 
 
Game two saw FSU jump ahead early, as after a solid first inning from freshman starter Zach Dodson, junior Ben Wieman hit a two-run homerun to go up 2-0. In the top of the third, sophomores Ryan Bouma and Logan Helser would both single in runs, helping FSU to a 5-0 lead. Helser would add another RBI in the fifth to make the lead 6-0 Frostburg.  Wesleyan would get one run back in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly but Dodson limited the damage. 

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Frostburg would work out of the frame to strand two runners and keep the 6-1 lead. After a double, Guy stole third and then scored on an error to give FSU an insurance run in the seventh. With FSU up 7-1, graduate Daniel Morgano would pitch the final inning, allowing just one run to WVWC that made the final 7-2. 

Frostburg would again have double digit hits, with the win going to Dodson for his fourth of the year, as he went four and two third innings giving up three hits and striking out five. Guy and Bouma lead FSU each with four hits. 

Frostburg is now 16-7 overall and 7-3 in Mountain East Conference play, while Wesleyan drops to 5-16. FSU will finish off the weekend playing two against Davis & Elkins tomorrow, March 30 starting at 1 PM. For more information visit frostburgsports.com.
