Sipes Selected as ECC Offensive Player of the Week, Buckwalter and Dere Named to Honor Roll
WEST BABYLON. N.Y. – Frostburg State Men's Lacrosse senior Austin Sipes earned ECC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, as graduates Chase Buckwalter and Evan Dere were named to the Honor Roll.
Sipes posted 13 points on 11 goals and two assists to help Frostburg to a 2-0 week. The FSU senior attackman scored a season-high six goals in a 17-9 upset victory over #14 Seton Hill for the Bobcat's first-ever win over the Griffins, before scoring five goals and adding four ground balls in a 14-10 conference win over D'Youville.
Buckwalter, midfield, scored eight goals and had an assist in Frostburg's victories this past week, scoring five goals against Seton Hill, before adding a hat trick in the team's conference win against the Saints. Dere, another Bobcat midfielder, helped lead the defensive effort in FSU's undefeated week, causing three total turnovers and picking up five ground balls. Against SHU, Dere caused one turnover and picked up a season-high four ground balls, while following up with a pair of caused turnovers and a ground ball in the team's victory over DYU, while also winning 3-of-4 face-offs, in the first ones he took all season.
