Men's Swimming Honors Seniors With Dominant Home Win Over NDC

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team took first place in all but one event during their Saturday home victory over Notre Dame (Ohio).
 
Prior to the meet, FSU honored its six senior swimmers in Andy Creelman, PJ Emrich, Justin Geiszler, Noah Loper, Jackson Miller, and Matt Rotman for their final home meet of the season.
 
The Bobcats began the meet by taking first and second in the 200-meter medley relay, with the all-senior team of Miller, Emrich, Creelman, and Loper tops with 1:52.27, followed by sophomore Josh Horner, junior Luka Smith, and freshmen Dylan King and Tory Reynolds at 1:54.90.
 
Frostburg took the top four spots in the 800-meter freestyle, with junior Nate Canapp (8:55.62), freshman Jack Bond (9:10.64), Geiszler (9:29.59), and graduate Myles Henderson (9:48.17). Canapp (4:18.88) and Bond (4:25.07) also went on to place first and second, respectively, in the 400-meter free, where they were followed by sophomore Alex Whitton (4:40.39), Horner (4:43.89), and junior Jaden Tipton (4:44.45).
 
In the 200-meter free, King was first at 2:01.51, with the next four places going to freshman Abe Bias (2:07.53), Tipton (2:10.21), Whitton (2:10.40), and freshman Isaac Cummings (2:11.57). King also won the 200-meter butterfly in 2:24.26.
 
Freshman Julian Najarro Sedar led a charge of the top five spots in the 50-meter free, with his 24.26 winning, followed by Reynolds (24.92), Emrich (25.40), Creelman (25.44), and junior Mikkel LeBlanc (25.45). Najarro Sedar (55.13) would then place second behind Loper (54.27) in the 100-meter free, with Bias (56.97) and LeBlanc (57.09) taking third and fourth, respectively.
 
Miller (2:21.32) was victorious in the 200-meter backstroke, with Horner (2:31.46), Henderson (2:35.90), and Cummings (2:38.13) all taking place two through five. Emrich (2:27.33) ended the individual swims with a win in the 200-meter breaststroke, as Smith (2:32.85), Geiszler (2:42.83), and juniors Tave Chanthavong (2:45.44) and Sean O'Connor (2:48.44) finished in the next four spots.
 
Rounding out the meet in the 200-meter free relay, the team of Najarro Sedar, Reynolds, LeBlanc, and Loper won in 1:38.34, while Bias, sophomore Andrew Weatherhold, Canapp, and Tipton came second at 1:41.75.
 
With the win, Frostburg improves to 5-3 on the year, while NDC falls to 2-6. FSU returns to action on Saturday, January 20 for a tri-meet against hosts UMBC and Salisbury at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
