Alcala, Diaz, Myatt Pick Up Wins in Men's Tennis Loss to Grinnell

The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team lost the first match of their Spring Break trip 5-2 to Grinnell on Monday.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team lost the first match of their Spring Break trip 5-2 to Grinnell on Monday.
 
In doubles play, the sophomore pairing of Cole Alcala and German Diaz won fairly comfortably 6-3, though the Pioneers took the next two matches to win the point. At the No. 3 pairing, junior Matt Bolen and sophomore Noah Fisher came up just short in a 7-6 loss.
 
Alcala went on to take the top singles match 2-6, 6-4, 10-7, while freshman Field Myatt also scored a three-set win in the five spot at 1-6, 6-3, 10-7. GC swept each of the remaining matches to pick up the victory 5-2.
 
With the loss, Frostburg falls to 2-5 on the year, while Grinnell improves to 11-2. FSU faces a quick turnaround as they play on Tuesday, March 19 at 11:30 AM against Carleton. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
