Men's Tennis Earns Sweep Over Fighting Owls in Home Victory
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team swept past Harford Community College on Saturday in a 7-0 home victory.
FSU started off with sophomores Cole Alcala and German Diaz winning 6-3 and No. 1 doubles, to which the Fighting Owls responded with a 6-4 win at the second spot. With the meet's first point up for grabs, junior Matt Bolen and senior Nate Burkhardt eked out a 7-5 victory to take the point in favor of the Bobcats.
Alcala (6-2, 6-4) went on to take a straight-set sweep at No. 1 singles, followed by freshman Field Myatt (6-3, 6-4), senior Del Carden (6-3, 6-4), and freshman Otto Hintermister (6-4, 6-0) and the third, fourth, and sixth spots, respectively. Freshman Peter Barun (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) and junior Cian Cabodevilla (6-1, 1-6, 10-7) each battled their way to three-set victories, giving the Bobcats the meet sweep.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 5-9 on the year, while the Fighting Owls fall to 3-9. FSU has a quick turnaround as they travel to face Fairmont State on Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
