Alcala, Diaz Go Unbeaten in Men's Tennis Loss to Huskies

The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team lost a close match 4-3 on the road against Bloomsburg on Saturday evening.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team lost a close match 4-3 on the road against Bloomsburg on Saturday evening.

FSU began the meet with a lead, taking the doubles point after the first three matches of the day. Sophomores German Diaz and Cole Alcala won at the top pairing 6-4, then a narrow 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles from freshman Peter Barun and senior Del Carden sealed the point after the Huskies had won 6-4 in the third pairing.

Alcala (7-6, 6-4) and Diaz (6-3, 6-4) both won in straight sets to put the Bobcats within a point of winning the match, but BU had other ideas. In the four through six singles matches, Bloomsburg won each in straight sets, taking things down to the No. 3 spot. In a back-and-forth effort, Barun came up just shy in the three-set battle, as the Huskies came away with the 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 win to complete their comeback victory.

With the loss, Frostburg drops to 2-4 on the year, while Bloomsburg improves to 3-3. FSU returns to the court on Saturday, April 6, where they will host West Virginia Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
