Hynes, Turner, Osborne Pick Up Victories for Men's Track & Field During Weekend Meets

The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team traveled to two meets this weekend, competing in both the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State and the Tim Weaver Invitational put on by West Liberty.

RALEIGH, NC – The Frostburg State Men's Track & Field team traveled to two meets this weekend, competing in both the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State and the Tim Weaver Invitational put on by West Liberty.

In the Raleigh Relays, Frostburg competed in a handful of events, with junior Marquise Burks leading the way with a season best in the 110 meter hurdles with a 15.03 finish. Senior Nate Mesy went for a 50.02 in the 400 meters, as freshman Nate Shields finished with a 6.84m in the long jump, and junior Tom McCoy went for a 4.45m height in the pole vault.

The Bobcats put up a terrific effort at the Tim Weaver Invitational with a handful of first place finishes, along with multiple high-ranking finishes over the weekend. In the field events, redshirt sophomore Ben Treat took home second place in the shot put with a 14.05 toss, with freshman Dalton Kasekamp placing seventh at a distance of 12.78m, also setting a personal record with a 38.95 throw in the discus. Redshirt freshman Ire Maboudou earned fifth in the hammer throw with a personal best of 38.95m, as sophomore Scott Haste slid into seventh place with a toss of 37.71m, throwing a 39.20m in the prelims for a personal best, while also setting a personal record in the javelin with a 40.02m, also in the prelims. Senior Rondell Carlton went for eighth place in the long jump with a jump of 6.14m, while graduate Bryson Harvey took eighth in the high jump with a 1.70m height.

Freshmen Mason Reed (16.66) and RJ Eubanks (17.58) took sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 110 meter hurdles, with the latter also knotting sixth in the 400 meters, clocking a 55.49 time, as the former came in seventh at 56.87. Freshman Ka'Von Turner collected a first place finish for the Bobcats, taking the 100 meters with an 11.15 time, as freshman Jack Hynes also picked up a victory, placing first in the 800 meters with a finish of 1:56.69, setting his personal outdoor record. FSU had five other athletes place in the top-10 in the 800, with freshman Isayah Stewart (2:02.05) coming in fifth, freshman Brendan Kline (2:03.10) earning sixth, senior Justin Dowell (2:05.80) sliding into eighth, and freshmen Gage Osborne (2:06.33) and Jaxon Jones (2:06.44) rounding out the event in ninth and 10th place. Turner took home another win in the 200 meters, clocking a 22.41 time, as freshman Logan Haines came in right behind him in second with a finish of 22.73.

Osborne won the 1500 meters with a 4:09.80 time, setting a personal best, with Jones (4:18.11) coming in third, freshman Ray Gibson (4:22.63) placing right behind him in fourth, freshman Matthew Brennan (4:30.46) earning fifth, and junior Caden Jones (4:34.01) sliding into seventh to round out the top-10 finishers for Frostburg. Senior Justus LePrevost picked up third in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:20.42, as the 4x400 relay team of Turner, Hynes, Osborne, and Stewart ran a 3:29.39, placing second out of four teams, while Haines, Dowell, Kline, and junior Paul James III came in third with a 3:35.97 time.
