Roberts Named First Team All-MEC, Miller and Nelson Receive Second Team Honors
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced its 2024 Softball award winners and all-conference teams on Tuesday afternoon, one day prior to the start of the conference tournament, which will be played May 1-May 4 at the Botetourt Sports Complex in Salem, VA.
Senior Jamie Roberts was named to the All-MEC First Team for the third consecutive year, leading Frostburg in batting average with .418, knocking 64 hits, 11 doubles, and 10 home runs, along with securing 46 RBI and 24 runs. Roberts also currently holds a .686 slugging percentage and a team-leading .460 on base percentage. From the circle, Roberts posted a 9-8 record, throwing 123 innings for 11 complete games, two shutouts, and a five-inning no hitter against West Virginia State. Roberts also led FSU in strikeouts with 80, along with a 5.27 ERA and an opposing batting average of .290.
Sophomore Arden Miller earned a spot on the All-MEC Second Team, batting .303 in the regular season for 36 hits, eight doubles, a triple, and five home runs, while collecting 36 RBI and 29 runs. Miller also went for a .513 slugging percentage, a .368 on base percentage, and nine stolen bases in 10 attempts. Sophomore Gracie Nelson also received All-MEC Second Team honors, finishing the regular season with a .353 batting average as the Bobcats' lead off hitter throughout the year. Nelson connected on 41 hits, two doubles, and three triples, totaling seven RBI and 35 runs. Nelson sits with a .422 slugging percentage and a .436 on base percentage, while having stolen 11 bases in 12 attempts.
