Boards Sets Record in Prelims, Sivic and Mastria Begin Pentathlon at MEC Championships

The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field kicked off the first day of the MEC Outdoor Championships on Sunday.

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field kicked off the first day of the MEC Outdoor Championships on Sunday.
 
Senior Amy Tarcza had the team's best individual finish in the scoring events, placing ninth in the 10K at 40:51.46, with classmate Chelsea Montau earning twelfth at 43:37.41. In FSU's lone scoring throws event, freshman Sydney Johnson also had a twelfth-place finish at 41.18m.
 
Among the scoring events, the first portion of the Heptathlon also began, with sophomore Bella Mastria and freshman Reghan Sivic taking part for the Bobcats. Mastria ended the day in fourth overall, helped out by a first-place finish in the 200m, while Sivic won the shot put at 9.84m. Rounding out the day, junior Valerie Boards broke her own program record in the 200m preliminaries, qualifying for the finals in third overall at 24.63.
