Women's Wrestling 2023-24 Season Preview

Frostburg State Athletics will be taking a preview for each team competing in the Winter season, covering six total sports. Over the next couple weeks, each team will continue to be broken down into their expectations, key players, and overall outlook for their season and program. Next up is Women's Wrestling.

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State Athletics will be taking a preview for each team competing in the Winter season, covering six total sports. Over the next couple weeks, each team will continue to be broken down into their expectations, key players, and overall outlook for their season and program. Next up is Women's Wrestling.
 
Overall: The Frostburg State Women's Wrestling team looks to compete in their first-ever season, after being added to Frostburg Athletics in August 2022.  Head Coach Breonnah Neal embarks on her first season leading the Bobcats, having spent two successful years at Gannon University prior.  Neal joins FSU having coached 17 national qualifiers, eight All-Americans, and 16 Scholar Americans, while also wrestling at King University, where she herself was a four-time WCWA All-American and two-time University All-American.  Caitlin Cardenas will join Neal on the coaching staff. 
 
The Athletes: Coach Neal put together a team of multiple new faces, including sophomores Samira Stephens and Sarah Sunday, who join the team with collegiate experience.
 
The Schedule: Frostburg will open their season at East Stroudsburg on Sunday, November 5 at 10 AM for their first road meet.  FSU comes back home to host their first home meet, welcoming Delaware Valley on Wednesday, November 8 at 7 PM, prior to traveling to Michigan on Saturday, November 11 to face Adrian Duals.  The Bobcats return home for a tri-meet hosting Bluefield State and York (Pa.) on Saturday, November 18.  To finish out the season, Frostburg goes on the road to face Marymount, before competing in the North Central College Open in Naperville, Illinois, the East Stroudsburg Duals, and the Tornado Open in Bristol, Tennessee, before coming home to host the Bobcat Open on Sunday, February 4 to finish out the season.
