Baseball Lands Four on NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Second Team

The Frostburg State Baseball team had four players named to the NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Second Team with senior Ethan Kiple, and juniors Randy Steen, Mikey Guy, and Patrick Bauer receiving the honors.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Baseball team had four players named to the NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Second Team with senior Ethan Kiple, and juniors Randy Steen, Mikey Guy, and Patrick Bauer receiving the honors.
 
As a first baseman, Kiple is coming off being named MEC Player of the Year while earning All-MEC First Team honors as well, having led Frostburg and the conference in runs (56), while batting .380 for 65 hits and 17 doubles, and continuing to lead FSU in home runs (16) and RBI (57).  Adding to his awards, Kiple took home All-MEC Second Team honors as a relief pitcher, seeing 14 appearances on the mound for 18 innings pitched, picking up a win, five saves, and 20 strikeouts. 
 
Steen, the Bobcats' main center fielder, went off for a .373 batting average, racking up a team-high 66 hits, to go along with 11 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 41 runs, and 42 RBI, receiving an All-MEC First Team distinction as well.  Guy earned a spot on the All-MEC Second Team to add to his honors, leading Frostburg in batting average with .389, knocking 65 hits, 13 doubles, and seven home runs, while being credited with 50 runs and 42 RBI also. 
 
From the mound, Bauer, one of FSU's starting pitchers, holds the second best ERA in all of Division II with a 1.79, for the best on the team and in the conference.  Bauer tossed 50.1 innings for a 6-2 record, leading the Bobcats in strikeouts with 51, and leading the team and the MEC in opposing batting average with .188.
