Ramos Picks Up Victory as Women's Tennis Falls to Vulcans
CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's tennis team traveled to face California (Pa.) for their first team match of the year, falling 6-1.
The Vulcans began the meet by sweeping the doubles matches, as the closest FSU got was the pairing of senior Alyssa Kush and graduate Julia Ramos narrowly losing 7-6.
The Bobcats kept each of the singles matches close, as four of the six went to tiebreaks. Ramos picked up a win at No. 1 singles, coming back to take a 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 decision. Kush dropped a close back-and-forth battle 6-4, 5-7, 10-6, while junior Patricia Castejon came up just shy at 1-6, 7-6, 11-9. Also going the distance was junior Claudia Coombes, as she fell on the wrong side of a 7-5, 1-6, 10-3 score.
The Bobcats will next travel to Salem (WV) for a match on Saturday, September 20 at 1 PM. For more information please visit frostburgsports.com.
