Rippeon Earns MEC Women's Swimmer of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Freshman Genevieve Rippeon took Frostburg State Women's Swimming first MEC Swimmer of the Week honor of the season, as the award was announced on Monday by the league office and is presented by The Health Plan.
Rippeon, continuing her dominant freshman season, performed extremely well in the Franklin and Marshall Invite over the weekend, receiving a first-place finish in the 1,650-yard free with a time of 17:33.54 for an all-time program best. Rippeon also competed in the 500-yard free (5:04.13) and 400-yard IM (4:31.52) for two top-three finishes and two more program records. Rippeon swam on Frostburg's 400-yard medley relay, 400-yard free relay, and 800-yard free relay teams, guiding the Bobcats to a 7:54.85 finish in the 800 that just beat the program's all-time record.
