Haney, Bare Take MEC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – For the second time this season, Frostburg swept the MEC Women's Lacrosse weekly awards, with sophomores Neila Haney and Jessie Bare being recognized, as this award was announced on Monday by the league office and is presented by The Health Plan.
Haney took home MEC Offensive Player of the Week, leading FSU to two dominant conference wins over Wesleyan and Charleston (WV). In Frostburg's 29-0 shutout victory over WVWC, Haney went off for nine points, scoring five goals and dishing out four assists, while picking up four draw controls. Haney then went for seven points in the team's 19-8 win over the Golden Eagles, knotting four goals and three assists while scooping up two ground balls, causing one turnover, and earning two draw controls.
Bare, MEC Defensive Player of the Week, helped lead the defensive effort for the Bobcats in their 2-0 week, being credited with an assist in each game, while picking up one ground ball, causing one turnover, and being credited with five draw controls against Wesleyan. Against UC, Bare then scooped three ground balls, caused another turnover, and won four draw controls.
