Four From Women's Wrestling Enjoy Strong Muhlenburg Novice Tournament
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Frostburg State Women's Wrestling team sent four athletes to the Muhlenburg Novice Tournament on Sunday.
Sophomore Nadia Ungurean joined freshmen Danayah Savoy, Dayanah Savoy, and Anasette Cooper combined to go 10-1 in round robin competition in a convincing display for FSU.
Dayanah Savoy competed at the 124 lb class, where she secured a 10-0 tech fall in her first bout followed by a pinfall within 30 seconds in her second. Her sister Danayah also went undefeated, earning three pins in total, including one with just five seconds left in the period to conclude her day. Ungurean was also placed in 131, as she began the day with a 10-0 tech fall before earning a 10-4 decision and rounding out the competition with a pinfall. Cooper had the lone defeat of the day in her opening bout at 180, however she recovered swiftly to earn a pair of pins to finish the tournament 2-1.
Frostburg next will compete at the Wasps Open Tournament hosted by Emory & Henry on Friday, December 12. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
