Football Announces 2025 Schedule
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Football team has announced their schedule for the 2025 season, with the Mountain East Conference releasing the dates and matchups of all conference games.
Frostburg is coming off a 6-5 campaign in 2024, going for a 4-5 mark in the MEC. The Bobcats won their first six games of the season, leading them to a national ranking midway through play, but finished seventh in the conference. FSU leads an 11-game schedule in 2025, as Head Coach Eric Wagoner enters his fourth year at the helm of the program.
Shepherd (6-5, 3-4 PSAC)
For their 2025 opener and seventh season as a Division II program, Frostburg will kick off their year against Shepherd, facing the Rams for the first time since 1981. The two region rivals signed a six-year agreement in March to play one another through 2030. Just over 60 miles apart, the Rams will make the trip to Bobcat Stadium for both teams 2025 opener under the lights.
Millersville (1-10, 0-7 PSAC)
FSU will go on the road up to Millersville, PA to face the Mauraders for their first road game of the season, having faced MU for the first time last year. Playing in another Thursday night game this year, the Bobcats defeated Millersville 23-6 in 2024 at home in their season opener a year ago.
West Liberty (2-9, 2-7 MEC)
The Bobcats will kick off MEC play against West Liberty once again this season, welcoming the Hilltoppers to Frostburg. FSU holds an undefeated slate in the all-time matchup with a perfect record of 5-0, putting up 57 points on WLU a season ago. Frostburg has put up 55+ points over West Liberty twice in the series, scoring 25 or more points each time. The Bobcats' defense has held the Hilltoppers to under 10 points in two of the meetings.
West Virginia Wesleyan (0-11, 0-7 MEC)
Looking at another night game on a Saturday, FSU's first away conference game will be in Buckhannon, WV for a battle of the Bobcats. Frostburg squares away with West Virginia Wesleyan with the formers leading 4-0 in the all-time series. FSU has scored more than 35 points in each matchup, taking last year's meeting by a dominant score of 49-16.
Concord (1-10, 1-8 MEC)
For their 2025 homecoming game, Frostburg will host Concord in the afternoon, looking to come away with their fifth dub in the history of the two teams. The Bobcats will fight for their third consecutive victory over the Mountain Lions, taking last year's contest 54-21. FSU has put up 50 or more points on CU twice in the series, as Frostburg will look for their first homecoming win since the 2023 season.
Glenville State (7-4, 7-2 MEC)
Remaining at home, FSU will welcome in the Pioneers of Glenville State for their fourth-ever meeting, as the Bobcats picked up their first win of the series just last year by a strong score of 41-9. Both of Frostburg's losses have come from just three points each, with scores of 10-7 and 13-10, sitting their overall record in the all-time series at 1-2.
Charleston (WV) (11-1, 9-0 MEC)
Frostburg will kick off their three-game away slate with a tough contest against the defending conference champs of Charleston (WV). FSU fell to the Golden Eagles in the team's homecoming game a year ago 48-7, moving their overall record to 3-2 against UC. The Bobcats won the first three contests between the two squads, with the Golden Eagles taking the last two, defeating Frostburg by just a score of 28-25 in 2023.
Wheeling (6-5, 5-4 MEC)
Looking for a revenge win in the series, the Bobcats stay on the road to face Wheeling after a last minute 26-25 loss to the Cardinals last season. Frostburg built a solid lead after the first quarter, as WU used the fourth quarter to outscore the Bobcats to steal the win. Wheeling has taken two out of the last three meetings between the squads, will all three meetings being decided by four points or less. FSU holds a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series, seeing three straight victories to start.
California (Pa.) (10-3, 6-0 PSAC)
FSU will round out their three-game road trip with a non-conference game with PSAC foe California (Pa.) to start the month of November. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams, as the Vulcans stand as a strong regional opponent. This will be the third out of conference yet regional matchup for Frostburg in 2025, with all opponents representing the PSAC.
West Virginia State (6-5, 5-4 MEC)
To round out their home games in 2025, the Bobcats will host West Virginia State on Senior Day for the team's regular season home finale. The Yellow Jackets earned the win in last season's meeting with a final score of 38-24, as Frostburg took the three meetings prior to hold a 3-2 favor in the series.
Fairmont State (7-4, 6-3 MEC)
Concluding their 2025 regular season, Frostburg will finish with Fairmont State on the road. The Falcons stole the 31-28 win over the Bobcats last season with a game-winning field goal at the buzzer, handing Frostburg their first loss in the series to put their record at 4-1.
