Five Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District for Women's Soccer

Seniors Ashley Bilger, Toni Fiocco-Mizer, and Hannah Thompson, along with juniors Carolyn DeSena and Cat Smith, all received CSC Academic All-District Honors, announced and selected by College Sports Communicators.

GREENWOOD, Ind. Seniors Ashley Bilger, Toni Fiocco-Mizer, and Hannah Thompson, along with juniors Carolyn DeSena and Cat Smith, all received CSC Academic All-District Honors, announced and selected by College Sports Communicators. 
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.  Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
 
Bilger, Fiocco-Mizer, and Smith are all coming off being named First Team All-MEC.  Bilger, goalkeeper, finished the season with a 15-3-2 record, going for 44 saves for fourth most in the MEC, 10 shutouts and .47 goals against average, both for first in the MEC, as well as only nine goals allowed all season.  While knotting her eighth shutout of the season, Bilger set the single season record for Frostburg in clean sheets.  Backing her up on defense, Smith helped lead the Bobcats to .41 goals against average, only allowing nine goals all season, while firing away seven goals and two assists on offense.  Fiocco-Mizer served as the main forward for FSU, racking up eight goals and five assists to go along with 74 shots and 21 points.    
 
Thompson was named Second Team All-MEC, starting all 22 games playing 1,878 minutes and being credited with a goal and three assists, helping lead both Frostburg's offense and defense.  DeSena received All-MEC Honorable Mention for her part on both sides of the ball, also starting all 22 games for a total of 1,665 minutes, while also dishing out two assists.
