Women's Swimming Celebrates Senior Day With Home Victory Over Salem

The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team won their final home meet of the year with ease after a 157-90 victory over Salem (WV) on Saturday afternoon.

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team won their final home meet of the year with ease after a 157-90 victory over Salem (WV) on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the start of the meet, FSU honored its pair of women's seniors, as Rayna Cicen and Maya Wilson both are finishing out their Bobcat careers. 

Sophomore Lydia Nebiolo secured Frostburg's first win of the meet, finishing first in the 800-meter freestyle (10:01.21), followed by another first-place finish from sophomore Amaya Burke in the 200-meter free (2:24.56). Nebiolo was able to capture another victory in the 400-meter free (1:10.24) as Burke earned second in the 50-meter free (29.62).

Sophomore Kendall Hopper was able to add to her classmates' success, as she finished first in the 100-meter butterfly (1:07.31) and in the 50-meter fly (30.72). Freshman Gabriela Betancourt also had a came up with a win in the 100-meter backstroke (1:10.24).

Rounding out the individual wins, junior Maree Dieterich took first in the 50-meter breaststroke (37.16), followed closely by sophomore Tiernan Taggart in second (39.13).

With the victory, FSU improves to 5-4 on the season, their first time over the .500 mark this year. The Bobcats will go on the road next weekend, as they travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday, January 28 for their final MEC meet of the regular season at 1PM.
