Hooper, 400 Medley Relay Take First Team Honors on Day Two of Women's Swim Championships
CANTON, Ohio – The Frostburg State Women's Swim team ended day two of the GMAC/MEC Championships remaining in third place overall and first among MEC teams after Thursday's races.
With an overall third place finish, Frostburg's best of the day, the team of sophomore Gabriela Betancourt, juniors Natasha Paciello and Kendall Hooper, and senior Liz Perry swam a 4:00.24 in the 400-yard medley relay for First Team All-MEC honors.
Hooper (58.01) and Perry (58.96) took fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly, for first and second in the MEC, as Perry was a half second away from setting a new personal best. During the preliminaries, freshman Alexis Ramsey swam a 1:01.19, putting herself sixth all-time in school history. For another fifth place finish, Hooper finished with a 4:40.61 time in the 400-yard IM, for her second individual First Team All-MEC recognition of the day.
Paciello went on to set a new personal best of a 4:54.25 time in the 400-yard IM for a 13th place finish and an All-MEC Honorable Mention, as she now holds the third best time in Bobcat history. Also in the event, freshman Morgan Greenlee swam a 4:56.59 for fifth all-time and Ramsey had a 5:00.21 for seventh in program history.
FSU set four top-10 records in the 200-yard freestyle, as freshman Rachel Rickabugh (1:58.36) took 15th place for the third best time in program history, while freshman Jayme Meadows (1:58.60) was right behind her, taking the fourth best time in school history. Junior Tiernan Taggart swam a 2:00.73, placing sixth on the all-time list, while junior Amanda Soustek clocked a 2:01.86, sneaking into 10th best all-time.
