Women's Swimming Takes Four First Team Performances on Day 3 of Championships
CANTON, Ohio – The Frostburg State Women's Swim team ended day three of the GMAC/MEC Championships in third place overall and first among MEC teams after Friday's races.
Junior Lydia Nebiolo had the first of several Bobcat First Team All-MEC finishes on the day, placing sixth overall in the 100-yard backstroke at 59.40, setting the second-fastest time in school history. Also in the event, freshman Gabriella Douglas had the fourth-best time in the preliminaries at 1:00.65, while fellow freshman Jayme Meadows swam the ninth-fastest mark at 1:01.64.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, junior Natasha Paciello captured her second-straight First Team All-MEC honor with a 1:07.31. During the preliminaries of the event, senior Maree Dieterich posted the seventh-best time in program history at 1:11.15.
As the final individual event of the day, FSU took each of the three available All-MEC honors in the 200-yard butterfly, led by junior Kendall Hooper's 2:09.09 in third overall. Joining her were freshmen Morgan Greenlee (2:16.28) and Alexis Ramsey (2:18.06), who were the top two finishers in the B final. The former's time was the second-fastest in program history, while the latter had a 2:16.84 for the fourth-best all-time mark.
Another pair of top-10 swims came in the 500-yard freestyle, as freshman Rachel Rickabaugh picked up Honorable Mention All-MEC with a 5:18.04 that stands fourth in school history, while junior Amanda Soustek posted a 5:26.20 that is the ninth-fastest all-time.
Ending the day in the 800-yard free relay, the team of Rickabaugh, Meadows, Nebiolo, and junior Tiernan Taggart smashed the previous program record in 7:55.63, placing third overall and tops in the MEC.
