Women's Tennis Sweeps Bowie State in Home Spring Opener
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team opened their 2024 home season with a 7-0 sweep over Bowie State on Thursday.
Starting out with a lead in doubles play due to a forfeit, the junior pairing of Lorena Pintar and Julia Ramos cruised to a 6-0 victory at the No. 2 spot, while the top pairing of sophomore Alyssa Kush and freshman Lauren Ceballos won 6-3 to stay unbeaten on the day.
Kush (6-3, 6-1), Ramos (6-2, 6-4), and Ceballos (6-0, 6-0) all went on to record straight-set wins at Nos. 1-3 singles to complete undefeated meets. Freshman Patricia Castejon (6-1, 6-0) and junior Sydney Goering (6-0, 6-1) polished off the remaining two matches, as a forfeit at the final spot gave FSU the 7-0 match sweep.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 7-6 on the year, while BSU falls to 2-6. The Bobcats begin MEC play on Saturday, April 6 to face West Virginia Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
