Women's Tennis Earns No. 3 Seed in Conference Tournament, Closes Regular Season with Victory against Golden Rams
WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team concluded their regular season on Sunday afternoon, taking down West Chester by a 5-2 final on the road.
Frostburg knotted two wins in doubles play on the day, with sophomore Alyssa Kush and freshman Lauren Ceballos playing until the end for the 7-6 victory in No. 1 doubles. The junior duo of Julia Ramos and Lorena Pintar soared in the No. 2 slot with a 6-0 victory, as the team of freshman Ella Troxell and sophomore Mariaspa Kotsiou fell in No 3 doubles with a score of 6-0.
Ramos continued her success in singles, taking the No. 2 competition in a 6-3, 6-2 final, while Pintar went for an undefeated day as well, taking No. 4 singles by a score of 7-6, 6-0. Freshman Patricia Castejon went for a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 5 singles contest, while Kotsiou collected the victory in the No. 6 spot with a 6-2, 6-4 match. Kush put up a solid effort in the No. 1 play, falling just shy in a 6-7, 5-7 final, with Ceballos dropping No. 4 singles 6-7, 0-6.
With the win, FSU rounds out the regular season with an overall record of 12-9, while West Chester ends the season 8-11. The Bobcats will take the No. 3 seed in the MEC Tournament, facing No. 2 seed Fairmont State on Saturday, May 4 at 5 PM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
