Women's Tennis Takes Each Match in 7-0 Sweep of Harford CC
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team swept past Harford Community College on Saturday in a 7-0 home victory.
FSU started off the meet by taking each of the three doubles matches, including a pair of clean 6-0 results at the Nos. 2 and 3 pairings. At the top spot, sophomore Alyssa Kush and freshman Lauren Ceballos had little trouble in winning 6-2 before the duos of junior Mariaspa Kotsiou and freshman Patricia Castejon and freshman Ella Troxell and junior Sydney Goering cruised to their respective sweeps.
Both Troxell (6-0, 6-0) and Goering (6-0, 6-0) were dominant in not dropping a single game in each of their matches, while Castejon (6-0, 6-1) and junior Julia Ramos (6-1, 6-1) each also enjoyed straight-set sweeps. The Bobcats closed out the meet with Kush (6-1, 4-6, 6-4) and sophomore Hazel Honeycutt (6-2, 4-6, 12-10) each recording hard-fought three-set victories.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 8-9 on the year, while the Fighting Owls fall to 3-10. FSU has a quick turnaround as they travel to face Fairmont State on Sunday, April 21 at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
