Kush, Pintar, Castejon Pick Up Wins for Women's Tennis in Close Loss to Marauders
FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team came up just shy in their home match against Millersville on Sunday afternoon, dropping the contest with a 4-3 final.
Sophomore Alyssa Kush and freshman Lauren Ceballos earned the lone win in doubles play for Frostburg, taking the No. 1 with a dominant 6-1 victory, but MU took the other two pairings to earn the doubles point.
Kush continued her success in singles play, taking No. 1 singles with a hard fought 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 score to earn FSU's first point on the day. Junior Lorena Pintar won her No. 3 match, going to three sets as well in her 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win, as freshman Patricia Castejon picked up another Frostburg victory at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-3 score. Ceballos took her singles match to three sets, coming up just short 5-7, 6-4, 2-6 in what would end up being the winning point for the Marauders.
With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 7-7 on the year, while Millersville moves to 8-6. Frostburg remains at home as they welcome in West Virginia Wesleyan at 4 PM on Monday, April 8 for their first MEC contest of the season. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
