Women's Track & Field Places Second at Messiah Invitational

The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team participated in the Messiah Multis & Invite held Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13, placing second overall in the meet out of 16 total teams.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team participated in the Messiah Multis & Invite held Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13, placing second overall in the meet out of 16 total teams.

Sophomores Malika Habib and Valerie Boards took first and second, respectively, in the 100 meters, both running a 12.17, with a .005 difference in time. Sophomore Jasmine Scott went on to take first in the 200 meters with a 25.02 finish, with freshman Isabella Mastria coming in third at 25.88. Rounding out the individual sprints, freshman Lilly Williams took fourth in the 400 meters with a 63.43 time. In a team performance, Mastria, Williams, Habib, and Boards won the 4x100 meter relay with a finish of 48.96.

Senior Hannah Muir knotted third place in the 3000 meter steeplechase, clocking a 12:27.72, while in the 5000 meter run freshman Hannah Schauman (19:28.15) placed second, freshman Emily Wishart (19:59.32) took third, junior Elizabeth Stanley (20:02.43) earned fourth, and sophomore Adra Schell (20:15.45) brought it home for Frostburg in sixth, each setting a personal best in the process. 

In the field events, sophomore Eva Morrison placed second in the pole vault with a 3.13m height, as sophomore Khady Ndiaye also knotted a second place finish with a 11.33m in the triple jump, tying her personal record. To conclude the jumps, Mastria came third in the long jump with a leap of 5.25m, while Ndiaye placed eighth in the high jump with a 1.43m finish.

Graduate Morgan Mathews went for eighth in the heptathlon with 3,455 points for the fourth-best in program history, then in the throws, senior Jenna Green took sixth in the javelin at 29.19m, as sophomore Addy Cottrill took second in the discus throw (36.62m), shot put (11.26m), and hammer throw (38.99m).
