Raleigh, West Liberty Invites Highlight Weekend for Women's Track & Field

The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team competed in two meets over the weekend, with athletes competing in the Raleigh Relays down south at NC State and the Tim Weaver Invitational held at West Liberty.

RALEIGH, NC – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team competed in two meets over the weekend, with athletes competing in the Raleigh Relays down south at NC State and the Tim Weaver Invitational held at West Liberty.

At the Relays, Frostburg participated in multiple events, setting a handful of milestones, starting with freshman Isabella Mastria leaping a 5.23m in the long jump, tying her season best as she sits at 10th all-time in program history with that distance, while also going for a 57.26 in the 400 meters for a new personal best and seventh all-time in FSU history. Sophomore Jasmine A. Scott ran a 57.80 in the 400 meters, capping her season best as well, as sophomore Valerie Boards timed a 12.26 in the 100 meters, while clocking a 25.03 in the 200 meters for fifth best in school history. Rounding out the success at the Raleigh Relays, sophomore Khady Ndiaye finished with a 10.46m in the triple jump, as the 4x400 meter relay team of Mastria, Scott, Boards, and freshman Lilly Williams ran a 3:59.65.

At West Liberty, the Bobcats had a tremendous amount of success in a number of events, with multiple high-ranking finishes over the weekend. Starting off with the field events, sophomore Addy Cottrill placed second in the hammer throw and fourth in the discus throw with tosses of 38.73m and 36.84m, respectively, with her hammer throw of 40.87m in the prelims sits at sixth best in program history. Freshman Raegan Philips placed seventh in the shot put with a distance of 10.14m, while freshman Jasmine B. Scott took seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.04. Sophomore Eva Morrison knotted first place in the pole vault with a 3.31m height, also coming in sixth in the triple jump with a 10.25m finish.

Senior Erin Haviland took third in the 100 meter hurdles with a 16.60 time, as sophomore Malaika Habib (1:03.15) and graduate Morgan Mathews (1:04.18) went back-to-back in the 400 meters, taking home fourth and fifth place, respectively. FSU had six runners place in the top-10 in the 800 meters, with freshman Paige Etnoyer (2:38.10) taking second, freshman Emily Wishart (2:39.07) right behind her in third, freshman Hannah Schauman (2:44.90) placing fifth, senior Amy Tarcza (2:48.24) earning sixth, senior Hannah Muir (2:50.03) coming in seventh, and junior Elizabeth Stanely (2:51.64) bringing it home for the Bobcats in eighth. Habib went on to knot fourth place in the 200 meters with a 27.30 finish, as freshman Cierra Cooper placed seventh with a 28.11 run.

Frostburg had four athletes place in the top-10 in the 1500 meters, with Etnoyer (5:15.22), Wishart (5:20.51), Schauman (5:20.75), and Muir (5:26.78) taking the four, five, six, and seven spots, as Tarcza came in 10th with a 5:35.89 finish. In the 5000 meters, sophomore Alana Dyce-Giraud took third out of six athletes, clocking a time of 20:37.2, as the team of Dyce-Giraud, Cooper, Wishart, and Tarcza placed fourth in the 4x400 relay knotting a time of 4:49.82, while Habib, Etnoyer, and freshmen Jazmine Pinon and Lucy Crowe came in third with a 4:38.39 finish.
