Stanley Wins 10k as Women's Track & Field Competes in Final Tune-Up for MEC Championships
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team placed third out of 19 total teams at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational over the weekend.
Junior Liz Stanley secured the lone first place finish on the day for FSU, winning the 10,000 meters at 42:42.62. Joining her in distance successes, a trio of Bobcats turned in personal best marks during the 1,500 meters, as freshmen Emily Wishart (5:06.18), Paige Etnoyer (5:06.66), and Hannah Schauman (5:10.67) all secured new highs.
In the sprinting events, sophomores Valerie Boards (12.16) and Jasmine Scott (56.56) both earned second-place finishes in the 100m and 400m, respectively, with the latter setting a PR and improving her third-best program time. Freshman Isabella Mastria (58.79) was just behind Scott in fifth place, while freshman Lilly Williams ran a season-best 1:01.97. Mastria also went on to place second in the long jump at 5.67m.
Senior Jenna Green impressed in the throws, putting forward the program's seventh-best javelin throw at 31.09m in setting a new personal mark, which she also did in the discus at 26.24m. Freshman Reagan Philips secured herself a personal best in the hammer throw at 28.93m. Rounding out the meet, sophomore Khady Ndiaye had a couple of top performances, placing third in the triple jump at 11.10m, then earning seventh in the high jump with an outdoor season-best of 1.50m.
Frostburg next will host the 2024 Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships from Sunday, April 28 through Tuesday, April 30. Information on the event can be found at Championship Central, including ticket information and the meet schedule. Further updates will be posted at frostburgsports.com.
