Men's Wrestling Rolls Past Marymount, Patrick Henry in Tri-Meet Sweep

The Frostburg State Men's Wrestling team got back into the win column with a tri-meet sweep of Marymount and Patrick Henry on Thursday night.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Wrestling team got back into the win column with a tri-meet sweep of Marymount and Patrick Henry on Thursday night.
 
In the first meet against the Patriots, FSU dominated from start to finish on the way to a 58-0 shutout. Freshmen Acxel Barrios and Gage Heilbrun each earned pinfalls at 125 and 149 lbs, respectively, either side of tech fall wins by junior Thierno Diallo (19-4) and freshman Logan Intrieri (18-2). After a forfeit at 157, the Bobcats picked up another pair of first round falls with freshmen Liam DeBaugh and Duncan Kammar at 165 and 174 lbs, respectively. Two more forfeits gave way for freshman Gabe Elfiky needing just 1:15 to secure the fifth and final pinfall for the 58-0 victory.

Against the Saints, Frostburg faced an early hole after the hosts earned a pinfall at 125 lbs, but Diallo quickly shifted momentum at 133 lbs with a fall of his own to tie the match at 6-6. Intrieri followed up with another first round pin, then Heilbrun secured a 19-4 tech fall and Buckler, seeing action for the first time of the day, pinned his opponent with 10 seconds left in the opening round for a commanding 23-6 lead.
 
DeBaugh went through the first two rounds of his match building up a strong lead, before finally securing a pin with a minute to go in the final round. Marymount fought back with a decision at 174 lbs and a major decision at 184 lbs to bring the match back to 29-13, but freshmen William Applegarth and William Longhurst both earned fall victories in the final two weight classes to seal the 41-13 meet win.
