Professor Honored for Dedication to Marketing Club
At the 2023 Frostburg State University Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration held on May 4, Dr. Lilly Ye, a professor in FSU’s Department of Marketing and Finance and advisor of the FSU Marketing Club, was honored with the Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award for support and contributions that go above and beyond her current duties as a faculty member. The event was hosted by FSU’s Office of Student Engagement.
“Becoming involved as a student organization advisor is a unique opportunity, one with many challenges, but also with many rewards,” stated the director of FSU’s Cultural Events Series, Melanie Moore, who presented this award. “Being an advisor requires great patience and dedication, but the relationships you form with the students are invaluable to them and push them to share their passions with the world even more.”
Ye volunteers her time to advise students in the Marketing Club. She has spent countless hours attending meetings, planning events and organizing trips and conferences for her students to help cultivate experiential learning opportunities that allow them to thrive and grow. “Student and organization success is often determined by the support of their advisor, and your dedication does not go unnoticed,” said Moore.
Club members have noted that Ye’s dedication to their student organization has afforded them vital team-building experiences and future career opportunities with companies, including Nike, Google and Amazon. One of her nominators said, “She truly cares about the development of each student and strives to give us new experiences each semester.”
Ye was unable to attend the awards celebration as she was lending her support at one of her Marketing Club’s many events.
FSU’s Marketing Club is open to students of all majors. For more information, contact Lilly Ye.
