FSU Responds to SCOTUS Affirmative Action Decision
Jun 29, 2023 2:00 PM
Frostburg State University will continue its commitment of providing a welcoming and supportive educational environment to students from all backgrounds. FSU determines admission based on a holistic approach, which includes academic performance, letters of recommendation and extracurricular/leadership activities. Race, however, is not a criterion used by FSU for admissions or financial aid decisions.
As always, we value the diverse points of view that come together on our campus and help provide opportunities, connections, friendships and inspiration to all. Core to our Mission, Frostburg serves regional and statewide economic and workforce development; promotes cultural enrichment, civic responsibility, and sustainability; and prepares future leaders to meet the challenges of a complex and changing global society. Our student body represents Maryland, the region and the nation at large.
“Historically, college students are drawn to Frostburg State because of our commitment as a student-focused, caring institution, which has helped us achieve the diversity you see on our campus,” said Ronald Nowaczyk, president of FSU.
Today’s decision is an opportunity to remain committed to our mission. Frostburg has a long and rich history offering a diverse community where students become the best versions of themselves.
As part of the University System of Maryland, Frostburg fully supports the statement from USM Chancellor Jay A. Perman on the Supreme Court’s decision.
