MCTA Presents Youth Folk Art Camp This August
Jul 12, 2023 8:00 AM
Frostburg State University’s Mountain City Traditional Arts will host a Youth Folk Art Camp for children ages 8 to 12, Monday, Aug. 7, through Friday, Aug. 11, each day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 25 E. Main St. in Frostburg. Day campers will spend a week at Folk Art Camp learning traditional skills such as basketry, beading and sewing.
In addition to hands-on artistic creation, campers will explore folk art from around the world to learn about the people and cultures that created those artistic forms. At the end of the week, MCTA will host a student showcase, and each camper will go home with their creations. There will be painting, sculpting, games and so much more!
The cost for the week is $75, which includes all art supplies.
MCTA is a program of FSU and the Maryland Traditions Program of the State Arts Council.
