Frostburg State University’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was recently recognized by the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, as a Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter. Frostburg’s chapter earned this honor for exceeding expectations in chapter operations and by demonstrating sustainability and vitality as a chapter.
“This is a wonderful honor for our campus community,” said Dr. Linda Steele, FSU’s chapter president. “We greatly appreciate the recognition for our efforts to celebrate student excellence.”
This year, FSU was among the 74 chapters recognized by the Circle of Excellence program, 38 of which were of silver distinction.
The Circle of Excellence Silver honor is given to chapters who scored a 90-94 out of 100 on a criteria scale that evaluates chapter health indicators. By receiving the Silver distinction, the FSU chapter is recognized as a thriving organization that holds annual initiations, upholds the Society Bylaws, regularly attends chapter training opportunities and submits a chapter-endorsed nominee to the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program.
Frostburg will receive a commendation letter from the Society, special recognition on the Phi Kappa Phi website and a cash award for its achievement. To learn more about the Circle of Excellence program, visit the Phi Kappa Phi web site.
