Men's Tennis Takes Down Firebirds For First Win of the Season

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis team nearly swept their home match against District of Columbia with a final score of 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Frostburg swept doubles play, with sophomores Cole Alcala and German Diaz taking the 6-2 win, and freshman Field Myatt and sophomore Noah Fisher going on to earn a 6-2 victory as well. The freshmen team of Viktor Boban and Peter Barun went on to defeat their doubles opponent in a 6-4 match to take the doubles point. 

Alcala and Diaz both earned victories in singles play, with Alcala fighting for a 6-4, 7-5 win, and Diaz earning a dominant 6-4, 6-0 victory. Boban was equally successful in his match, taking the result in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, while Myatt cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win. Fisher took his singles match by default, while Barun fell just shy of completing the sweep in a narrow 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 loss.

With the win, FSU goes to 1-1 on the season, while UDC also stands at 1-1. The Bobcats will stay at home as they host Shepherd on Saturday, October 14 for a match time of 1 PM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
