Men's Wrestling Receives Six NWCA Scholar All-American Nods

MANHEIM, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced the recipients of the 2025 NCAA DII Men's Scholar All-American Awards on Monday, with six athletes representing Frostburg State Men's Wrestling.
 
These exceptional student-athletes have excelled both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following criteria:
 

  • All-American at the 2025 NCAA DII National Championships and 3.00 GPA
  • National Qualifier to the 2025 NCAA DII National Championships and 3.25 GPA
  • Competed in 4 or more events and 3.5 GPA

 
Frostburg had another impressive season in their second year as a Division II program, finishing 10-4 overall, while seeing a third place finish out of seven teams in the MEC Tournament.  The Bobcats took fifth place at regionals out of 12 squads, having two qualify for the NCAA National Tournament. 
 
Graduate Owen Butler was a National Qualifier for FSU, finishing his final season with a 21-6 record, while holding a 4.0 GPA in the Sports Management program.  Sophomore Duncan Kammar also shows a solid 4.0 in the Emergency Media major, while fellow sophomore Charlie Turney has a 3.5 in Business Administration.  Freshmen Alex Hoy and Amir Wray-Hill both sit with an impressive 4.0 in the Engineering and Sustainable Construction Management programs, while fellow freshman Garhett Dickenson holds a 3.75 in Exercise & Sports Science.
