Meadows, Nebiolo Lead Women's Swimming Past Falcons to Stay Undefeated

FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team continued their undefeated start to the season with a commanding 137-67 victory over Fairmont State on Monday evening.
 
The Bobcats began the meet with a fast start, taking each of the top two spots in the 400-yard medley relay, as seniors Natasha Paciello and Kendall Hooper joined sophomore Jayme Meadows and freshman Genevieve Rippeon to secure the win at 4:09.47, while junior Gabriela Betancourt, sophomores Brenna Naddeo and Morgan Greenlee, and senior Meaghan Keegan placed just behind in 4:17.66.
 
In the individual events, Meadows tied for the team lead with senior Lydia Nebiolo in picking up a pair of victories each, the former winning the 200 IM (2:19.23) and the 100 back (1:02.42) while the latter swept the distance events in the 500 free (5:26.02) and the 1,000 free (11:05.00). Freshman Taylor Emrich picked up two second-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:22.07) and the 1,000 free (11:22.97), while also earning third in the 100 back (1:04.60), as freshman Ashley Ellsworth (5:30.51) placed just behind Nebiolo in the 500 free.
 
Hooper went on to win the 100 fly in 1:02.22, with sophomore Alexis Ramsey finishing runner-up at 1:03.06, as Rippeon took first in the 200 free at 2:00.76. One of the top events for Frostburg on the day was the 100 breast, as the Bobcats took first, second, and third, led by Paciello (1:10.37) followed by Keegan (1:13.14) and freshman Madison Hooper (1:13.90).
 
Rounding out the meet on a high note, Rippeon, Hooper, Ellsworth, and Nebiolo took first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:44.39.
 
With the win, Frostburg improves to 5-0 on the year, while Fairmont falls to 0-3. The Bobcats return home to face Mary Washington on Saturday, November 9 at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
